December 21, or Winter Solstice, is the day when the north pole is at its maximum tilt away from the sun. In the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the official start of winter, as well as the shortest day of the year. For thousands of years, Winter Solstice has captivated us humans and it has become the subject of (mostly Pagan) myths and legends.
Winter Solstice equals hope–the knowledge that, even in the darkest of times, the light will eventually shine through again. To celebrate Winter Solstice, I have compiled a gallery of beautiful images. Enjoy!
